Dinghy Sailing Learn to Sail (Level 1 & 2)
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the exciting sport of dinghy sailing. It is an intensive, fun packed programme, starting with the core sailing skills.
This two day course is suitable for complete beginners as well as for improvers.
If you are a new to sailing you will complete the level 1 course. If you have completed level 1 or have previous experience you will complete level 2.
Start Sailing (level 1)
- Rigging, launching and landing
- Helming and crewing
- Sailing upwind, tacking and the 'No go Zone'
- Sailing downwind and gybing
- The five essentials of sailing.
- Capsize recovery
By the end of the course you will know how to sail in light winds.
Start Sailing (level 2)
- Man overboard recovery
- Lee shore and weather shore landing and departure
- Quicker tacking and gybing
- Start racing
By the end of the course you will be getting to grips with sailing in stronger winds and be ready to start racing or hiring with friends and family.
The course is based in a spectacular setting at Middle Harbour Yacht Club on Sydney Harbour. The club is also home to the Australian Olympic Sailing Team.
Our training fleet includes Laser Pico single-handers and Laser Bahias, two person dinghies with trapeze and asymmetric spinnakers.
Our instructors are qualified as well as friendly, experienced and professional.
