STCW Superyacht Deck Crew
Join our Superyacht Deck Crew course and get the essential qualifications needed to enter the superyacht industry as a member of crew, including STCW Basic Safety Training.
Working on a superyacht is an exciting career option, leading to travel and adventure opportunities worldwide.
As a deckhand your responsibility is to maintain the exterior of the yacht, its tenders, jet skis and any other toys the yacht may have on-board. You will be interacting with guests and owners to make sure their time onboard is beyond expectations.
The Flying Fish Superyacht Deck Crew programme comprises three modules run continuously over two weeks
1. STCW10 Basic Safety Training (5 days)
STCW Basic Safety training is an IMO compulsory qualification for ALL crew working on superyachts and all vessels over 24 metres.
The course includes the following elements.
- STCW Elementary First Aid
- STCW Personal Survival Techniques
- STCW Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities
- STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting
- STCW Proficiency in Security Awareness
2. RYA Powerboat Level 2 (2 days)
The Powerboat Level 2 course provides intensive training in the practical skills and theory knowledge needed by the small boat driver.
This certificate is required to drive the yacht's tender which is a primary function of deck crew, so captains expect to see this qualification on your CV (resume).
3. RYA Competent Crew (5 days)
Competent Crew is a live-aboard week where you learn the basics of sailing and seamanship in order to carry out your daily tasks on deck.
Yachtmaster for quick promotion
As a superyacht deckhand you will be in competition with others who hold a Yachtmaster qualification.
