The RYA Coastal Skipper practical course builds on the skills learnt on the Day Skipper practical course.
The training focus moves away from the shorter passages of Day Skipper to longer offshore passages that require watch-keeping routines, crew management and pilotage by day and night.
You live on board for the week, with some nights spent at sea and other nights in harbour or at anchor.
RYA Coastal Skipper is a stepping stone towards the Yachtmaster Certificates of Competence.
Yachtmaster Shorebased Theory
For those planning to go on from Coastal Skipper to Yachtmaster the Yachtmaster Shorebased Theory course is strongly recommended.
Yachtmaster Practical Exams
Attending the RYA Coastal Skipper course reduces the sea time requirement for the Yachtmaster Coastal exam from 800 to 400 miles.
