Beneteau First 40 — fast, comfortable, and easy to sail

The First 40 deck is designed for efficient handling while racing, and provides generous interior volume for relaxed coastal cruising.
The cockpit features removable storage lockers and a transom beam for versatility and performance.

Inside, a contemporary finish in wood, stainless steel, leather and fabrics creates a warm and stylish space. The layout includes three double cabins and two convertible saloon berths, providing excellent flexibility.

A fully equipped galley and enclosed toilet/shower complete the onboard comforts.
Sleeps six in comfort or up to eight using the saloon berths.

Flying Fish is an RYA/AS-accredited sailing school and can arrange private, bespoke training for your group.

Race yacht charter

This Beneteau First 40 is race-optimised and available for charter to suitably qualified and experienced racing crews.

It carries a full suit of recent carbon race sails and is configured for competitive performance.

Proof of racing competence and crew capability is required for race charter bookings.

New Year’s Eve, Australia Day, Boxing Day

Be sure to book early if you want to charter for any special events in Sydney Harbour.

Faq

  • How do I secure my booking?
    • To arrange your charter, use the enquiry button at the top of this page. Once your date and price are confirmed, a 20% deposit secures your booking. The balance is due 60 days prior. Deposits are non-refundable but transferable.
  • How many people can the yacht accommodate?
    • The yacht is licensed to carry a maximum of 10 people. For comfort, we recommend up to 8 guests.
  • Yacht specification
    • The Beneteau First 40 is a modern 40 ft performance cruising yacht, well suited to Sydney Harbour and coastal sailing. She features a fractional sloop rig, overall length of 40 ft (12.58 m), beam of 3.89 m, draft of 2.4 m, and a displacement of 7.9 tonnes. Power is provided by a Volvo 40 hp diesel engine, with 130 litres of fuel and 200 litres of freshwater.
    • On board facilities include three double cabins, one bathroom, a fully equipped galley, large fridge, comfortable saloon seating for six, and a sound system. Sailing and navigation features include wheel steering, extensive B&G instrumentation, a three-reef mainsail, and a furling headsail. The yacht carries ISAF Category 2 safety equipment and is AMSA and RYA compliant.
  • Can I arrange my own itinerary?
    • Yes. Subject to weather, sea conditions, and operational constraints, our skipper can tailor the itinerary to suit the preferences and requirements of your group.
  • Can we bring food and drinks?
    • Yes. BYO food and drinks are welcome. Alcohol is permitted in moderation.
  • Is swimming allowed?
    • Swimming may be possible at suitable locations, subject to conditions and the skipper’s discretion.
  • What should we wear?
    • Comfortable clothing, flat non-marking shoes, sun protection, and a light jacket. Lifejackets are provided and may be required at the skipper’s discretion.
  • What safety equipment is carried?
    • The yacht is equipped with ISAF Category 2 safety equipment and meets AMSA and RYA code requirements.
  • What happens if the weather is poor?
    • If conditions are unsuitable or unsafe, we will work with you to reschedule your charter or offer an alternative.
