Join us for a professional training experience in one of the world’s most inspiring sailing locations.
Flying Fish Sailing is based in Middle Harbour, one of the most protected and picturesque parts of Sydney’s world-famous harbour.
Port Jackson — which includes Sydney Harbour, Middle Harbour, and North Harbour — covers more than 55 km² and is the largest natural deep-water harbour in the world. It’s also consistently ranked among the world’s most beautiful harbours.
With countless bays, islands, and inlets to explore, plus iconic landmarks such as the Harbour Bridge and Opera House, Sydney provides an exceptional training environment for aspiring Yachtmasters. The harbour is rich in marine life, with over 613 species identified to date.
Thanks to warm summer temperatures and excellent year-round sailing conditions, Sydney is one of the best places in the world to learn, train, and qualify as a Yachtmaster.

Flying Fish employs a team of experienced and highly qualified RYA instructors, many of whom trained with Flying Fish themselves.
Our instructors hold RYA Cruising Instructor or Yachtmaster Instructor qualifications, alongside a broad range of senior certifications, including Yachtmaster Examiners, Ocean Instructors, Instructor Trainers, and Senior Dinghy, Powerboat, and Windsurfing Instructor ratings.
Our guiding principle is friendly, professional instruction, recognising that every expert sailor was once a beginner.
Training takes place aboard a fleet of well-maintained, offshore-capable yachts, supported by RIB safety boats and a range of dinghies, windsurfers, and paddleboards.
For many of our students, Yachtmaster training is the first step toward a professional career on the water.
The global yachting industry offers diverse career opportunities for qualified RYA Yachtmasters, from charter and delivery work to superyacht crew and officer roles.
Working on yachts and superyachts can open the door to international travel, strong earning potential, and long-term job satisfaction. With the right training and support, it’s a realistic and rewarding career path.
Flying Fish has been helping students start yachting careers for over 25 years, and our global graduate network now spans sailing yachts, motor yachts, and superyachts worldwide.
We recommend that interstate and international Fast Track students stay nearby in Manly, close to our Sydney training base.
Manly offers beaches, cafés, and a relaxed coastal lifestyle, while still being well connected to the city. The ferry provides an easy commute to Sydney CBD, with direct access to Middle Harbour Yacht Club.
For students needing accommodation, we can arrange comfortably furnished crew apartments within walking distance of Manly Beach. There are also plenty of short- and medium-term rental options available locally if you prefer to book independently.
