Before you start

You have spent at least one week on a sailing yacht and are confident as a crew member under supervision.

You understand the basics of pilotage and are familiar with navigation using paper charts.

If you are inexperienced as a navigator we recommend you complete our online Essential Navigation and Seamanship  course.

What next?

If you are planning to charter in Europe you should apply for an International Certificate of Competence (ICC) from the RYA which is awarded without further assessment to holders of the RYA Day Skipper practical certificate.

Your next Flying Fish course should be RYA Coastal Skipper and our Yachtmaster Shorebased Theory week.
