AS/ISAF Offshore Safety and Sea Survival Revalidation
This is a re-validation course for those who have completed the two-day AS/World Sailing Offshore Safety and Sea Survival course but whose certificates will soon expire.
Description
The course meets the requirements of the World Sailing (ISAF) Special Regulations, appendix G, Part D - guidelines for an Offshore Personal Survival refresher course.
There is a practical session in a pool, where you refresh your knowledge of how to launch a life raft and practice in-water survival techniques.
Course Schedule
- Liferaft and lifejacket practical pool session
- SAR organisation and methods
- Communications equipment (VHF, GMDSS, SATCOM)
- Exams
At the end of the course, participants will complete an assessment paper in the classroom.
Instructors and equipment
An Australian Sailing /ISAF-accredited instructor will run the course.
We provide all the equipment.
Location
The course is based in our training room at Middle Harbour Yacht Club, which is set up for this purpose.
The pool drill runs at the Wharinga Aquatic Centre in Frenchs Forest.

Before you start
- You have already completed a full AS or RYA / ISAF Offshore Safety and Survival course but your certificate is about to expire or has recently expired.
- NB - if your certificate is out of date by more than 24 months you will need to complete the full two-day course again.
What next?
- You must re-validate this certificate every five years.
