Description
Try Yachting is perfect for beginners.
But if you are already experienced you are still welcome to join us for some fresh sea air and sunshine. Or why not introduce a friend to sailing?
This three-hour, taster experience will give you the very basics of sailing and allow you to feel the magic!
Safety first
The lesson begins with a short safety briefing and an explanation of the basic parts of the yacht, as well as how to use clutches, winches, halyards, and sheets.
You go on to learn how to hoist and trim the sails, sail across the wind, helm the boat on different points of sail, and to tack.
Morning or afternoon?
We run our Try Yachting experience in the morning and afternoon so you can choose a time that suits you.
The wind is often a little fresher in the afternoon. So if you are looking for adrenaline, pick the afternoon if you prefer a more relaxed approach go for the morning.
Friendly, experienced instruction
The lesson will be run by one of our qualified and experienced instructors, who will show you the ropes in the friendly and relaxed manner that is the hallmark of Flying Fish.
Apres sail
Apres sail refreshments are available in the waterside 'sand bar' at Middle Harbour Yacht Club or you can enjoy lunch in a local cafe.
Private event - save money
If you like the idea of doing this with your own group of family, friends, or workmates you can book a Try Yachting experience as a private charter, bring up to a maximum of 10 people, and pay only $1495

What's included
- Tuition.
- Life jackets are provided and we can loan you wet weather clothing if required.
- All vessels have an enclosed bathroom on board.
- Please bring your own water and snacks.
Before you start
- No previous experience is required.
- Try Yachting is suitable for kids from 12 years old accompanied by a parent or guardian.
